At this moment, the New Jersey School Boards Association Delegate Assembly is convening. Representatives from school boards around the state have gathered to express the position of the Association. A vote was cast on a resolution offered by the delegation for the Highland Park Board of Education. It is written:

The NJSBA believes the state should provide alternative methods of achieving state and federal requirements for graduation, not based only on standardized tests, such as the Alternate High School Assessment of portfolio assessment.

The NJSBA further believes that parents should have input into the decisions regarding the methods of assessments used, but that the ultimate authority to decide these methods must rest with local boards of education.

The result of this vote is a clear indication that delegates overwhelmingly disapprove of the direction the State is taking. Do they represent you? They represent me. This is long overdue.
